Standalone Access Control System and Networked Access Control System

The Access Control system is divided into independent access control system and networked access control system according to the way of communicating with the computer.

1. Independent access control system

The independent access control system cannot communicate with the computer, and the access control authority can be set on the keyboard or mother card of the machine. There are also some independent access control machines that use auxiliary keyboards with LCD display as card authorization.

Components of an independent access control system:
Independent access control machine (including card reading and control) + door open button + electric lock + power supply + proximity card. Some can also connect an external card reader to swipe the card in and out.

The advantages of the independent access control system: the price is relatively cheap, and decoration personnel who do not need computer knowledge can install it.
Disadvantages of the independent access control system: poor safety, because the relay that controls the electric lock is in the one-piece machine, the unscrupulous person can open the door by short-circuiting or destroying the independent access control machine without much professional knowledge, and some even use strong magnets. It can suck open the relay in the independent access control machine to open the electric lock. Although some manufacturers have made improvements and put buttons and relays in the power supply, they have not fundamentally improved the safety factor. It is quite inconvenient to set the permissions of the card. If a company has multiple doors that need access control, they need to be set and canceled one by one. The setting work is quite troublesome, and it is difficult to know which doors are set with which permissions.

Therefore, the independent access control system is suitable for occasions where the security level is not high--the situation where the security level is not high, the cost budget is very low, the number of doors is small, and there is no need to quickly authorize and analyze the access control records.

2. Networked access control system

It can communicate with the computer, and through the access control management software installed on the computer, it can set the authority of the card and analyze and query the access control record. If the computer is not turned on, the system can also run normally offline. The software operation can set permissions and parameters, and can monitor the entry and exit of each door in real time. Attendance report can be counted.

Components of the networked access control system:
Access controller + card reader + exit button + communication hub + proximity card + power supply + access control management software.

Remarks: If you connect two card readers and do not connect the door button, you can swipe your card when you enter and exit. If the password card reader is connected, the card + password function can be realized to prevent the card from being picked up by others and illegally entering. The security level is higher. The biometric device (fingerprint device, palm-type device, etc.) with the international communication interface wiegand26 output format of the card reader can replace the card reader and connect the controller to realize a higher security level access control system.

According to the communication mode of the access control controller, it can be divided into 485 networked access control system and TCP/IP networked access control system

Remarks: In addition to RS485 and TCP/IP, there are access control systems with other bus structures, such as LAN bus, etc. Since these products are not many on the market and have their own advantages and disadvantages, they will not be described in detail here.

The advantages of the networked access control system: high system safety factor, good cost performance, powerful functions, convenient operation, and value-added functions such as attendance can be derived from the data analysis and management of swiping card records.

Among them, the TCP/IP network access control system has more advanced technology, faster communication speed, wider networking range and more stable communication. Because the price is slightly more expensive than the 485 networked access control system, the current popularity is not as good as the 485 networked access control system, but It will become the mainstream of networked access control system in the near future.

At present, the mainstream and trend of access control systems are networked access control systems, which are the first choice for mid-end, high-end, mid-high, and low-end users.
