Intelligent management of dairy cows in Xinjiang based on RFID technology

Xinjiang is a major dairy farming province in my country. The number of dairy cows ranks among the top in the country, but its milk production and output value are at the lower reaches of the country. The reason is that Xinjiang's dairy cows have low levels of yield and feeding management and are fed extensively. Modernization and intensive development are the only way for dairy farming in Xinjiang. High and new technologies are used to realize intelligent and information-based management of farms to achieve scientific feeding, reduce production costs, and increase milk production per unit area.

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology is a type of automatic identification technology that uses radio frequency for non-contact two-way data communication and has been widely used in many fields of animal breeding and management. The intelligent management of dairy cows based on RFID technology is one of the economical and practical solutions to improve feeding efficiency and reduce production costs. It is of great significance in promoting the modernization and intensive development of dairy cows in Xinjiang.

1. Shortcomings of traditional breeding

Traditional breeding methods are relatively extensive and cannot efficiently manage a large number of dairy herds, resulting in low efficiency and serious waste. If the feeding of dairy cows cannot be refined, it is difficult to ensure that the milk production of dairy cows is in a relatively stable range. In daily management, traditional breeding requires a large amount of human resources to manage dairy cows, and the resulting large amount of data information still needs to be entered manually. Inefficiency can easily lead to data entry errors or loss.

2. Application fields of RFID technology in dairy farms

RFID technology generally includes RFID electronic ear tags, RFID Readers and writers, etc. The electronic ear tag is an identification device used to record the individual information of the cow. The cow's individual characteristics, milk production, milk production period, weight, pedigree, age and other information are all entered in the electronic ear tag. After the information is entered, use ear tag pliers to place the electronic ear tag on the cow's ear to complete the binding of the electronic ear tag to the cow's identity information. The RFID reader is an information reading device used to obtain the electronic ear tags of cows. When the cow wearing the electronic ear tag enters the working range of the RFID reader, all the information recorded in it can be read by the RFID reader. , managers can immediately obtain all the Files of the cows, and carry out targeted feeding and management of the cows.

1. Identification

When a cow wears an electronic ear tag, the electronic ear tag is the cow's identity certificate. By reading the electronic ear tag with an RFID reader, all the information about the cow can be obtained.

2. Inventory management

Each electronic ear tag has a unique ID code. The RFID reader uploads the identified electronic ear tag information to the management system. The management system organizes and compiles statistics based on the ID code in the electronic ear tag, so that the cow can be quickly known. The number of cows that have been counted and those that have not been counted can be clearly seen at a glance.

3. Scientific feeding

Cows in different periods have different eating conditions, and the same cow will also have different eating needs under different weather conditions. The milk production period of dairy cows is divided into: early lactation, peak lactation, mid-lactation, late lactation, and dry milk period. Therefore, different dietary nutrients should be supplied according to different lactation stages. When the temperature is high in summer, the demand for minerals, multivitamins and protein increases. Since there is less green feed in winter, it is necessary to increase the content of nutrients such as vitamins and minerals in the feed, and at the same time, the forage processing and concentrate mix must be done well. The RFID reader is used to identify the identity information of the cows and determine which milk production period the cows are in. After the management system obtains accurate information, the automatic feeder will put the corresponding feed to supplement the corresponding nutrition for the cows and achieve refined feeding. .

4. Epidemic prevention testing

The past medical history of the cow is recorded in the ear tag. Through the RFID reader, the cow's medical history and disease occurrence cycle can be retrieved, which can provide a reference basis for the breeding manager to regularly inject various vaccines for the cow to prevent the occurrence of foot-and-mouth disease and Infectious diseases such as bovine hemorrhagic sepsis, and active prevention and treatment of dairy cow mastitis and obstetric diseases. Establish independent file information, conduct regular physical examinations, including serological tests of healthy and sick cows, and record them. It can also monitor the milk production of individual cows, the content of protein and somatic cells in the milk (ie, the quality of the milk), health status, milk production indicators, etc.
