Guangqi Honda RFID container storage and return

When it comes to the application of RFID in logistics container management in the automotive industry, Guangqi Honda is the first to try it out. As we all know, the management of logistics turnover boxes in the automotive industry has always been a difficult problem. Loss, destruction and improper misappropriation are a headache for many OEMs. There is a 10-15% loss and breakage rate every year. Some OEMs set the container replenishment rate at 30% per year. Therefore, how to manage logistics containers and ensure stable production is also a problem that many automobile OEMs are trying to solve.

RFID technology emerged during World War II, but due to various reasons, there are few practical cases of application in the civilian Logistics industry. In the early years, it was used for the management of fast-moving consumer goods, such as clothes and pharmaceuticals. In the automotive industry, although major OEMs have conducted many in-depth investigations and studies, they have not been able to easily get started. Therefore, when Guangzhou Automobile Honda first entered the RFID project, it must have been struggling for a while.

1.Project introduction

The use of RFID for container management is mainly divided into two stages. The first stage is mainly to realize the entry and exit management of containers and achieve efficient and accurate management of logistics containers. The second stage is to bind the order and container information so that the entire logistics of parts entering the factory can be tracked.

2. First phase implementation steps (2 steps)

2.1. Chip preparation stage

The specific process is to perform container coding based on the container type information provided by the supplier. After encoding, use the RFID Reader to write to the chip. After the chips are written, they are distributed to suppliers. The supplier affixes RFID tags to the containers in accordance with Guangben's requirements. In addition, to ensure that the container can still be read on the system when the RFID chip fails, Guangqi Honda requires a one-dimensional barcode to be affixed to the container. When the RFID cannot be read normally, a barcode scanner can be used to scan it.

After the specific parts arrive, the receiving personnel turn on the RFID device and set up the system. The unloading personnel pull the parts through the RFID logistics door, and the receiving personnel confirm the accuracy of the data. When loading and unloading containers, the container recycling personnel also turn on the RFID device, set up the system, and then load and unload the containers. Finally, the system will print out a triplicate container recycling form for signature and confirmation by the logistics provider, supplier, and loading and unloading personnel. The data information of each link is uploaded to the EPS system for relevant personnel to query.

Investment in software and hardware: The three major hardware components of a general RFID application system include Tag, Reader and Antenna hardware. Guangqi Honda invested in the construction of an RFID system on its own. Some of the reading equipment in the factory were funded and constructed by Guangqi Honda. In terms of chips, considering investment costs and convenience of promotion, 12 suppliers and logistics companies were initially selected for demonstration. The demonstration chips were provided free of charge by Guangqi Honda.
