Comparison of RS485 controller and TCP controller

Advantages of RS485 controller:

The cost is relatively low, the network is formed separately, and it will not be interfered by the shared network of other devices.

Disadvantages of RS485 controller:

The number of networks is limited, generally within 1000 units. The more devices, the more complex the network and the greater the interference. The network range is limited, generally only within a few hundred meters.

The communication speed is relatively slow. For a system with more than 10,000 people and hundreds of doors, the operation speed of uploading permissions and downloading records is relatively slow.

Advantages of TCP/IP controllers:

Adopting the popular communication protocol of international standard, the advanced nature and performance are relatively good, and it will not be eliminated for many years. There is no limit to the number of networks, and the network range is wide, which can cross regions or even cross borders.

The communication speed is fast, and it is suitable for Access Control systems with more than 10,000 people and more than 100 doors. The communication quality is stable and not easily affected by external interference. If the user already has a network such as a local area network, you can use the existing network to form a network without re-laying the network.

Disadvantages of TCP/IP controllers:

The cost will be slightly higher than the RS485 controller.
