Aman Aviation MRO tool tracking adopts RFID tags

More and more aviation companies are implementing RFID not only for tracking Tools but also to improve foreign object damage (FOD) automation and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) process support. One of them is Aman Aviation, an Indian aircraft parts maintenance and repair (MRO) organization that will cooperate with Dolphin RFID to promote the implementation of RFID-based technology in the Indian civil aviation sector. Compared with paper records and manual tool searches, an automated system using RFID can help Aman Airlines save time. RFID can also improve the accuracy of reporting and provide real-time tool status information, which will save a lot of aircraft time on the ground, increase the number of flights, make Indian Airlines more cost-effective and profitable, and maintain a high level of safety.

Since tags are required to maintain reliable performance as long as they are in service after being attached to tools, parts or other Assets, MRO is one of the harshest environments for RFID tag applications. RFID can establish a physical link between physical objects and information for safe and efficient operation. Even after years of exposure to extreme heat, oil, dirt, hydraulic fluids, cleaning agents and other challenging materials and other conditions common to aerospace operations, RFID industrial-grade high-strength high-temperature tags reliably read information every time.

With the advantages of its efficient RFID tags and RFID tool tracking applications, we have cooperated with Boeing and Airbu on similar projects. Industrial-grade high-strength high-temperature tag RFID tags (6mm diameter, 2.5mm thickness, reading and writing distance up to 1.5 meters/5 feet ), RFID (12*3*2.2mm, reading and writing distance up to 2 meters/6.6 feet) - with its small size and excellent reading and writing distance, as well as reading reliability when applied to metal parts. RFID options are used for tool tracking.

According to Aman Airlines, India’s new civil aviation policy allocates funds from the royalties of the airports they operate to support MRO, which can save 20% of operating costs. These savings will be used to implement technologies, such as RFID, to improve economic efficiency, security and ensure punctuality for Indian tourists. The RFID solution is based on the use of its own Jave software, Edge Wizard, which supports efficient asset and inventory tracking at all stages of the complex supply chain, from manufacturers to tax declaration Stores and end users, as well as precise aircraft cloud maintenance management.

RFID tool tracking case

The business case for RFID in this environment is very clear and is well proven in the aerospace sector. The main challenge is to find the most suitable combination of RFID tag installation methods and software to ensure that the tool can be accounted for and properly maintained at all times. Aman Aviation plans to implement the solution first for its own MRO activities. Aman then hopes to roll out its solution to Air India in the third quarter of this year.
