Use RFID radio frequency identification technology to track fire station equipment in real time

RFID radio frequency identification technology application background

Every fire station must maintain accurate management of equipment, which is necessary for the station to maximize the safety of the community and its residents. It is vital that all fire and EMS vehicles comply with regulations and have the correct equipment and firefighting consumables when responding to an incident. It is particularly important to constantly check various firefighting equipment and determine in real time whether its availability status is available. However, actual fire equipment management is often not that simple. Various equipment between real fire stations are often borrowed and allocated from each other, and the tracking of equipment calls between these fire stations is still through daily manual inspection. Documentation, weekly reporting and semi-annual updates are registered. Manual review and inventory are prone to errors and take up valuable employee time. In order to ensure 100% equipment record accuracy, Shenzhen Aisen IoT Technology Co., Ltd. decided to use RFID radio frequency identification technology to track inventory and equipment in real time to achieve automated inventory management.

Effective RFID Asset MANAGEMENT solutions

The RFID technology asset tracking system uses a combination of RFID and barcodes to tag all equipment with RFID electronic tags and save them in the RFID database. Critical equipment and Tool kits are tagged with RFID tags, which are then linked to specific project data in computers. The station installs RFID Readers at the locations of firefighting equipment. As equipment or supplies are moved in or out of the fire station, the readers detect the movement and record the latest location. RFID readers are also installed at the entrances and exits of vehicles. When an ambulance or fire truck leaves the station, all critical data related to the vehicle is identified and recorded. Management based on this technology allows any lost items to be quickly traced, ensuring the fire station is ready at all times.

RFID seals used to mark various firefighting equipment

RFID and barcoding technology and real-time inventory software allow the fire department to respond quickly to incidents and ensure every vehicle is equipped with emergency equipment. Station staff no longer spend a lot of time taking inventory or looking for equipment. The system tells them where these items are located and what their current status is.
