Understand the rfid data carrier of RFID reader and writer

RFID Reader and writer, also known as rfid fixed equipment, reading and writing terminal, RFID reader and writer is an electronic device used to read and write information in RFID tags. We will conduct an in-depth discussion of the relevant knowledge of RFID readers from four perspectives: functions, application scenarios, types and advantages.

1. Function of RFID reader and writer

The RFID reader is an important part of the RFID system. Its main function is to read and write data in RFID tags. When an RFID tag enters the range of the reader, the reader communicates with the tag through radio frequency signals to read or write the data in the tag. RFID readers enable RFID technology to be used in various fields such as logistics tracking, inventory management, product authentication and visitor management.

2. RFID reader type

According to different standards such as transmission distance, operating frequency, interface protocol, and reading and writing capabilities, RFID readers can be divided into the following types:

Low-frequency RFID reader: the operating frequency is generally 125KHz and the transmission distance is short;

High-frequency RFID reader: the operating frequency is generally 13.56MHz, and the transmission distance is wide;

Ultra-high frequency RFID reader: the operating frequency is generally 860-960MHz, which can realize large-scale tag data reading;

Multi-frequency RFID reader/writer: A reader/writer with multiple frequencies that can read different types of RFID tags;

Interface protocol RFID reader: including USB interface, RS-232 interface and TCP/IP interface, etc., which can communicate with various devices.

3. Characteristics of RFID readers and writers

Efficiency. The RFID reader/writer can achieve wireless communication, so it is very fast and can read the information on the tag instantly, greatly improving operating efficiency.

real-time. Because the RFID reader can read the information on the tag instantly, it can monitor or manage information in logistics, inventory and other fields in real time to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of the information.

automation. The RFID reader can automatically read and write tags without manual intervention, so it is not only highly efficient, but also greatly reduces the rate of manual errors at work and reduces the burden on employees.

Massive support. RFID readers can read data from a large number of tags at the same time, so they have great advantages in large-scale production and logistics scenarios.

4. RFID reader application scenarios

Logistics tracking. RFID readers can be used for item identification and tracking in logistics systems. In this scenario, RFID tags can be attached to items, and when the items pass through the RFID reader, the reader will read the information in the tag and update the inventory management system.

Inventory management. RFID readers are also widely used in various inventory management scenarios, such as retail, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical logistics. Employees only need to use an RFID handheld device or RFID reader to scan the tags on the goods, and the inventory management system can retrieve the information about the items from the database in real time, thereby achieving real-time inventory management.

certified product. RFID tags are widely used for product authentication and anti-piracy control. For example, an electronic device manufacturer can place an RFID tag on the device to ensure that the device has not been tampered with and counterfeited.

Visitor management. RFID readers can also be used in security Access Control systems and visitor management systems, such as schools, Hospitals, exhibition halls and factories, etc. When a visitor uses an RFID bracelet or card to enter a specific area, the RFID reader will be able to read the information in the tag and know whether they are allowed or denied access to the area.

RFID readers are increasingly used in fields such as logistics tracking, inventory management, product authentication, and visitor management. They not only improve work efficiency, but also enable real-time monitoring and full-process management. Currently, there are many different types of RFID readers on the market to choose from. Choosing the right RFID reader based on actual needs will contribute to more efficient and intelligent development in various fields.
