Top oil and gas supplier leverages RFID technology to provide customers with on-site support

The company (the client requested anonymity) manufactures high-tech seismic data acquisition systems such as digital receivers, vehicle-mounted vibrators, seismic detectors, shooting systems, and computer systems for signal pattern analysis or real-time quality control.

Field data tracking and collection

Designed for operations in extreme conditions (e.g. seabed, swamps, deserts, etc.), these devices are used in onshore and offshore exploration operations by all major oilfield services companies around the world.

Those remote and hard-to-reach locations become a challenge to identify and track high-value equipment in the field, and the data relies heavily on manual labor.

discover opportunities

These challenges turned into opportunities when an oil and gas equipment supplier came up with an innovative approach: embedding RFID capabilities at the point of manufacturing to identify equipment and track them when deployed in fields around the world. The project will help redefine the company's operations in manufacturing, logistics and customer service.

The project team first conducted rigorous testing and screening of suitable RFID technologies required for the readers, antennas, tags and software involved in the solution. In order to meet strict operational requirements, label selection is particularly important. These requirements include field validation for harsh environments, operation at global frequencies, appropriate read range, and cost-effectiveness in logistics applications.

The person in charge of the project mentioned: "They are highly respected RFID experts in the application field, and their RFID electronic tags are our first choice for evaluation."

We chose a custom-designed RFID tag for this application, which is part of a popular series of cost-effective RFID tags specifically designed for Asset tracking and management, specifically designed for equipment management in the oil and gas industry. .

Data makes services better

RFID tags are embedded at the point of manufacturing to enable advanced tracking and ASSET MANAGEMENT applications.

The benefits of use are mainly in the area of device identification, which can increase the accuracy of data collection and improve access to and acquisition of relevant data. Manufacturers can now collect data in real time, which was not possible in the past.

Since manufacturers attach great importance to the data quality and excellence of their products, RFID electronic tags help customers improve product excellence by strengthening quality inspection procedures and reducing the risk of operating under extreme conditions.
