Characteristics and advantages of RFID technology for vehicle identification


The application of RFID technology to automatic vehicle identification has been relatively mature abroad, mainly because the characteristics of RFID technology are more suitable for automatic vehicle identification.


anti-counterfeiting: Each RFID label has a globally unique ID number and cannot be modified, so RFID technology has unparalleled anti-counterfeiting performance. In addition to the ID number, there is also a DATA area in the RFID tag, where some data information can be written if necessary. The vehicle license plate and vehicle license information can be encrypted and written into this area. From this point of view, it also has high anti-counterfeiting characteristics. Through the reader-writer inspection of passing vehicles, vehicles with fake certificates or illegal vehicles can be easily identified.


Anti-borrowing: Since the vehicle license plate information can be encrypted and written into the tag, and the information in the system database can be called, it can be identified whether a certain vehicle has the right to use this vehicle license (i.e. electronic tag), thus preventing vehicle license plates from being used. The phenomenon of borrowing is to unify the license and the car or to unify the license, the car and the driver.


Anti-theft: If a vehicle license is accidentally lost, not only can the above methods be used to determine whether a vehicle has the right to use the vehicle license based on the consistency of the vehicle license number and the vehicle license, but the owner can also report the loss of the vehicle license. Invalid, once a vehicle attempts to enter or exit using a lost vehicle permit, it can be identified.


Anti-disassembly: Each electronic tag is equipped with an anti-disassembly function. After installation, once disassembled, the electronic tag will not work, thus preventing the electronic tag from being reused or used for other purposes after being disassembled, ensuring that the electronic tag is connected to the identified vehicle. Form a one-to-one correspondence relationship and play the real marking role of electronic tags.


Currently, the automatic vehicle identification system uses RFID technology in different frequency bands, including 5.8GHz, 2.45GHz and 915MHz. There are two main camps of electronic tags: active 2.45GHz and passive 915MHz. 915MHz passive tags can now easily identify more than 10 meters (distance is controllable). The technology is relatively mature, the cards are thin and diverse, easy to carry, and the card cost is low. It can be integrated and used with other systems; it has a long service life, strong directionality, obvious cost advantages, good maintainability, and is easy to be accepted by users, which is conducive to market promotion. The sensing area is relatively controllable. The card holder is inserted into the windshield at a suitable position, which can fully meet the requirements of non-stop traffic. Car film and other factors will reduce the card reading distance but will not affect normal recognition of traffic. 2.45GHz active tags are currently controlled by non-motor vehicles (electric vehicles) and can meet positioning needs. The lifespan of 2.4G active electronic tags is 2-3 years and requires replacement of batteries or new cards. Compared with UHF, it is more cumbersome and different frequency bands Each technology has its own advantages.
