RFID becomes a powerful assistant in asset management

The inventory of Assets is one of the important tasks in every industry. For large-scale ASSET MANAGEMENT and control, the number of inventory is relatively high, resulting in a very large amount of manpower and time. In the past, a lot of work was always spent on inventory operations, especially at the end of the year. Not only is it time-consuming and labor-intensive, but integrating various information is also a big challenge. How to make the tedious inventory process efficient and simple, use RFID technology to improve inventory efficiency and inventory accuracy, and implement automated data collection and statistics for important asset management to strengthen inventory management methods and accuracy, and greatly increase the mastery of asset management. RFID has become a powerful assistant in asset management.

Utilize RFID technology to carry out tag management of the fixed assets of the unit. By installing RFID electronic tags and installing RFID identification equipment at entrances and exits and inside the unit, combined with the real-time monitoring platform of data center assets, comprehensive visibility of assets and real-time updating of information can be achieved. It can monitor the use and flow of assets in real time, which is embodied in real-time query of equipment location, equipment movement tracking records, alarms, equipment management statistical reports and other management objectives, and establish a set of advanced, standardized and optimized management mechanisms.

What is the difference between active RFID and passive RFID?

Passive tags have no power source; they are activated by electromagnetic waves emitted by the reader and then transmit information back to the reader. The practical range of passive tags is about 10 centimeters to several meters.

Active tags have a built-in power supply and a microprocessor that performs special tasks. The data transmission range of active tags is much farther than that of passive tags; an active RFID Reader can monitor all active tags within a range of 100 meters.

Advantages of Passive RFID

If passive asset tagging technology is used, the reading speed is 4 times faster than using barcodes. Users only need to carry a passive RFID reader and tags can be detected even if they are not in sight. Users still need to inspect the actual location of each tagged asset, and the data collection process will run automatically and error rates will be very low.

Advantages of active RFID

When an object is managed by an active RFID tag, routine inventory of the object is basically unnecessary. Active RFID tracking solutions will automatically activate asset inventories in real time based on suitability, business and security requirements.

Readers can be permanently installed in key locations (e.g. offices, storage rooms, high traffic areas, exit passages, etc.) to report the current status of tagged assets in designated areas.

Passive RFID usage options

Passive RFID is commonly used in retail supply chains to improve inventory tracking and management efficiency. Passive RFID can be regarded as an "enhanced barcode". (As the printed barcode is used for a long time, the quality will deteriorate such as staining and tearing, and the reader and barcode must be in the field of view. within the range). The lack of a built-in power source means that individual passive tags can be quite small and inexpensive; commercial passive tags can be nested on sticker labels.

Active RFID usage options

Active RFID systems utilize "lighthouse" tags that regularly relay their status. These tags are transmitted in real time and provide immediate and continuous identification of tagged assets. If real-time tracking is required over a larger range, active RFID solutions are significantly better than other passive solutions. For the management of critical assets, IT equipment, valuables, mobile and shared resources, active technologies have significant advantages.

RFID realizes the visual management of the entire life cycle of fixed assets, and uses RFID technology to collect and manage information on the entire process of asset purchase, use, maintenance, and scrapping, thereby achieving efficient and reliable fixed asset management. The RFID asset management platform provides accurate data reference, effectively increases the efficiency of fixed assets and improves asset utilization, reduces enterprise management costs and avoids idle waste of assets.
