RFID application for power battery holder in Vietnam factory

Preface


     LG Chem belongs to the LG Group, one of the three major groups in South Korea. It is the largest integrated chemical company in South Korea. Recently, LG Chem opened a lithium battery production factory in Vietnam and cooperated with LG Chem to provide 58 production nodes for its lithium battery factory in Vietnam. Nearly 12,000 lithium battery holders provide RFID equipment support. This cooperation with LG Chem also proves the superior performance of the smart RFID Reader and writer, which has been affirmed by LG Chem, laying the foundation for more in-depth cooperation in the future.


Lithium battery holder

     The lithium battery production process has been fully automated. Each step only requires a small number of professional technicians to inspect to prevent accidents, and the rest is left to intelligent equipment production. The lithium battery production process is roughly as follows: material preparation - homogenization - coating - rolling - cutting - baking - winding - shelling - laser welding - baking - liquid injection - —Pre-filling-sealing-cleaning-aging-full inspection-warehousing-shipping.


     After the lithium battery is put into the shell, it has been basically formed. Subsequent processes such as spot welding, baking, precharging, sealing, and cleaning require the lithium battery to be fixed on the holder for the next step. Mechanical equipment has no eyes, so how can it accurately carry out the next step of the process? This is the area where the cup and RFID technology are combined.


     Each lithium battery prototype will be fixed on a holder after being put into the shell, and a glass tube label is fixed on the holder. The glass tube label data corresponds to the internal record of the information system. When the holder carries the lithium battery to the node through the assembly line, The mechanical equipment will sense the tag, upload the data, and issue instructions through the information system to enable the intelligent robot to carry out the next step of the process.


RFID solutions

This was highly dangerous and prone to human errors, resulting in a reduction in production rate and high labor costs. It could not be carried out at high intensity 24 hours a day. In terms of production, after upgrading the industry, the entire factory only needs a small number of professional and technical personnel to manage, respond to emergencies, adjust production schedules, and combine RFID technology to achieve fully automatic lithium battery manufacturing process.


Conclusion


     This cooperation with LG Chem's Vietnamese lithium battery production plant was a complete success. LG Chem's RFID cooperation is also a recognition of RFID technology.


     Focusing on the R&D, production and product application of RFID technology, we have a technical R&D team with rich technical experience.
