Huazhong University of Science and Technology invests 2 million yuan in bidding for RFID smart cabinets
The traditional management methods of hazardous chemicals often have problems such as opaque information, cumbersome processes, and poor supervision, which bring considerable hidden dangers to laboratory safety. In recent years, with the continuous deepening and expansion of scientific research activities, the number of hazardous chemicals in university laboratories has increased significantly, and the difficulty of their management has also increased accordingly. To this end, Huazhong University of Science and Technology decided to introduce RFID smart cabinets to comprehensively improve the safety management level of laboratories through information and intelligent means.
In order to smoothly implement this project, Huazhong University of Science and Technology has set up a budget of 2 million yuan and launched the bidding process. This bidding project covers a variety of equipment such as double-door smart cabinets (RFID+QR code) (1 unit), six-partition smart cabinets (RFID+QR code) (63 units), floor-standing and desktop smart control consoles, as well as background management software and system docking services. These devices will together constitute a complete set of laboratory hazardous chemicals intelligent control system, providing all-round support for laboratory safety management. According to the announcement, interested bidders can obtain the bidding documents on the "Official Website of Hubei Jiahui Zhicheng Bidding Consulting Co., Ltd." before August 15, 2024.
The introduction of RFID smart cabinets is an important part of the construction of the smart campus of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Through the implementation of this project, the school has not only improved the safety management level of the laboratory, but also promoted the intelligent transformation of other areas on campus. RFID technology is a non-contact automatic identification technology with the characteristics of fast identification speed, high accuracy and large amount of information. In laboratory management, RFID smart cabinets can accurately identify and track hazardous chemicals by attaching RFID electronic tags to each hazardous chemical.
Managers can quickly obtain information such as the type, quantity, and storage location of hazardous chemicals by simply scanning the RFID electronic tags, which greatly improves management efficiency. At the same time, the smart cabinet can also monitor the storage status and use of hazardous chemicals in real time. Once abnormal behavior or safety hazards are found, an early warning will be issued immediately to ensure the safety of the laboratory.
Breakthrough! Many European countries have approved the use of 915-921MHz frequency band for UHF RFID technology
In recent years, Europe has made significant progress in the field of UHF RFID technology. Recently, 11 European countries have approved the use of 915-921MHz frequency band for RFID. The latest countries to join are Croatia, Latvia, Austria, Czech Republic, Malta, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Serbia and Turkey, bringing the total number of participating European countries to 35.
UHF RFID systems have always faced global challenges because RFID technology in different countries uses different frequency bands, and products designed for one bandwidth may not be approved for operation in another country. This has inhibited the development of global RFID technology in some cases.
Compared with the traditional 865-868MHz frequency band, the 915-921MHz frequency band provides higher bandwidth and brings significant technical performance improvements. It is reported that after adopting the new frequency band, the reading range of RFID technology can be increased by 40%, the communication speed is increased by two times, and the power consumption requirements are lower.
The approval of the use of the 915-921MHz frequency band by many European countries not only makes RFID applications within Europe more unified, but also paves the way for the standardization of the global RFID market. This decision helps reduce the complexity and cost of manufacturers in designing universal RFID Readers and RFID systems, improves the global compatibility of products, simplifies the design of RFID electronic tags, RFID readers and RFID systems, and improves overall operational efficiency.
