An aerospace manufacturing company adopts RFID asset management for production

1. Customer background:

This customer is an aerospace manufacturing company in Shanghai. It is an aerospace peripheral contractor that integrates R&D, manufacturing, and assembly of satellite brackets and ancillary equipment. The company has 8 branches and produces products to support various types of satellites produced in my country. It is one of the best aerospace R&D and manufacturing companies in China.

2. Challenges faced by customers:

With the rapid advancement of my country's aerospace industry and the trend of refined production and manufacturing, the aerospace manufacturing industry has increasingly higher requirements for the informatization level of Asset MANAGEMENT in the production process. This has the following challenges:

Management efficiency is not high. The number and types of materials are increasing, making management neither convenient nor efficient;

The organizational production efficiency is not high. Since the manufacturing process organizes materials, Tools, and personnel according to products, it takes a lot of time and energy to find various resources during the production preparation period (it is estimated that 30 to 50% of the total time spent in the production process of a typical product is spent on search for organizational resources);

Workshop monitoring and management is difficult. Although a CCTV system has been installed in the workshop, due to the large video span, determining the time when the problem occurred is a time-consuming and labor-intensive challenge;

The efficiency of monitoring workshop conditions is not high. Temperature and humidity management still relies on manual reporting at regular intervals, and the information transmission speed is extremely slow.

3. Solution:

Use RFID technology (915MHz) to mark materials and collect information, install the material RFID tags on the materials, and register the material information through the RFID EAM system. When materials with RFID tags are moved, their movement location information is automatically updated in the system. When the material is needed, the location of the material can be retrieved directly from the system, improving retrieval efficiency. The system also provides an RFID inventory function, that is, managers can use handheld RFID Readers to quickly digitally inventory on-site materials and report the inventory results to the RFID EAM system. To summarize, this EAM system has the following functions:

Conduct comprehensive digital management of in-process products, tools, equipment, office furniture, Files and other materials in the precision manufacturing department;

Monitor key materials on-site, automatically record their movement routes, record and alarm illegal movements;

By integrating video surveillance with the RFID EAM system, the video content at that time can be retrieved through the material movement time and used as evidence to trace material rights and responsibilities;

Monitor the on-site temperature and humidity of the precision manufacturing department and integrate it with the RFID EAM system;

Connect with the existing (OA/P6) system of the Precision Manufacturing Department to complete the interconnection of material and personnel information.

4. Application effect:

The EAM system has been successfully applied in the aerospace manufacturing workshop and has the following benefits:

1. Management benefits: Improve the production scheduling capabilities of enterprises and groups, optimize the management model and level of equipment and accessories, and improve and transform enterprise asset management processes.

2. Economic benefits: By realizing the optimal allocation and utilization of corporate assets to ensure production, reduce production costs and obtain better economic benefits:

(1) Reduce equipment downtime and increase production efficiency by 10 to 30%;

(2) Reduce maintenance costs, which can be reduced by 10% to 20%;

(3) Reduce inventory costs and achieve a reduction rate of inventory funds of 10% to 30%;

(4) Extend the life of equipment and increase return on investment, which can increase income by 10% to 20%;

(5) Reduce emergency procurement and reduce procurement costs, which can achieve a reduction rate of 10% to 30%;

(6) Increasing working hours can improve work efficiency by 10% to 30%.

3. Knowledge management: Effective accumulation of knowledge management in production, maintenance, materials, equipment, and procurement can be achieved, and a huge knowledge base can be formed to reversely guide related work.
