UHF RFID Technology for Building Permit Application Tracking

Depending on the type of permit, an application may require review within 10 different programs within the DSD. Also, each review item has several reviewers. This makes it very challenging to track the actual location of each permit application in real time.

In Florida's construction service department, which is part of the Sustainable Development Department (DSD), RFID technology is used to track construction permits, realize real-time monitoring of official document circulation, save time, and improve customer service levels.

In any given month, DSD issues more than 2,000 building permits and needs to review applications for more than 6,000 permits. In addition, there are usually two permits for large DSD programs. Moreover, the approval process for these permits does not follow a straight line. Permits often need to be returned for additional review or revision. Back and forth may be required in the same review project. several times.

Project proposals:

By deploying the RFID solution, the RFID Reader reads the tag information on the permit, can see how the permit is reviewed, and determine the specific real-time location.

At each review project site, install 1 to 3 8 dBi circularly polarized antennas, which are then connected to UHF industrial-grade RFID readers. The reader integrates an M5E UHF RFID Module inside, which can read tags within a maximum range of 9 meters. Three reverse TNC antenna ports support a single-station 5050-ohm antenna. Each device is connected via USB to the middleware SPT (developed specifically for this project) running on the PC. The computer uses the existing Ethernet connection to move the data to the cloud.

RFID reader

8dBi UHF circularly polarized external panel antenna has the characteristics of high gain and low VSWR; it can be easily used in Access Control, warehousing, logistics, retail and other UHF RFID frequency band occasions.

At the same time, the project uses UHF tags, and each tag prints a unique identification pre-code.

RFID radio frequency tag

Each RFID tag is printed and pre-coded with a unique identification number. From the time the building permit application builds the printout, the RFID tag is stamped on the document. Then use the RFID reader to read the information printed on the RFID tag and connect it to the PC via USB. This process links Files and tag IDs and imports these data into cloud-based software IntelliView SPT, which includes middleware to manage tag reading and inventory management applications.

When the tag file passes through the RFID reader, the online data is updated in real time. Authorized users can access this information at any time using any browser, using any device with an Internet connection.

Project income

Using RFID technology to track building permit applications increases work efficiency. Because a lot of staff time is dedicated to the work itself rather than looking for files. Knowing the real-time location of the application is of the utmost importance to staff.
